Sweet Sin is Heavenly Cupcakes

July13

Traveled into Baltimore today and made a detour to Sweet Sin a gluten free cafe I found online here. It is cupcake heaven! The cafe itself is nothing to write home about but the cupcakes where delicious including red velvet, chocolate cappuccino, caramel apple and chocolate cheesecake. Think I might have bought too many but at least they are very tasty so others can eat them and save me some calories!

Chipotle

July13

Last time we came to USA discovered Chipolte and love it as everything except the flour tortillas are gluten free. My favourite is the crispy tacos with shredded beef, salsa and guacamole. Check out their website here.

On arrival in LA headed to Starbucks to get myself a Caramel Machiato and glad to see Starbucks offers gluten free snack bars made by Kind, check out the website here.

Balingup Breakfast

May15

Along the Kirup River

Aubrey and I stayed in Balingup overnight for performance by the SW Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by our friend Gordon Tayler.   We had hoped to stay at Westlington Winery (they make a great shiraz!) in their studio cottage but burning off got out of hand so fire a bit close by!   We stayed at another B&B but no need for breakfast as of course went to Balingup Bronze Gallery Cafe as have never been there early enough to have breakfast.   I had the vego gluten free breakfast and was delicious!    Went for a long walk along the riverside and back for a coffee and raspberry and white chocolate muffin.   On the way home we stopped at Barrecas Winery just east of Donnybrook which also make some great shiraz including our favourite the Shiraz Malbec.   Thanks Kelly for the great wine and friendly service.    Thank goodness red wine is gluten free!!

Jet Juice & Ebisu Sushi

May13

One of my regular lunches is salmon & avocado sushi from Jet Juice as this is made with mirin which is rice vinegar and there is no soy or mayo in these so makes them gluten free.   Jet Juice just got better as they now have gluten free muffins which are so delicious that I even queried the owner Wayne as to whether they were really gluten free!  He told me that he uses Well & Good, check out their website here.  I had a blueberry muffin today with my afternoon short black.  Jet Juice will also soon have gluten free pasta for winter lunches when the weather cools down.   Check out the Facebook page here.

The Happy Wife Part II

April30

Loving the cafe The Happy Wife as very yummy food and range of gluten free.   I took my own Bodhi bun and had it toasted with poached eggs and salmon.   The Happy Wife will soon be stocking gluten free bread, including sour dough, from down south in Denmark.    Could not resist buying a Gluten Free Lindt Dark & White Chocolate Brownie to take away for morning tea!

Balingup Bronze Gallery 100% Gluten Free

April24

Took an Easter Sunday drive to Balingup to my favourite cafe which is 100% gluten free and healthy and delicious! Aubrey and I went for a long walk in the Golden Valley Tree Farm where I got attacked by ants in my pants and we saw a male mouse spider, apparently very venomous! For a well deserved lunch I had the pan fried prawns with potato cakes and creamy garlic sauce. Aubrey had the beef curry with papadums and rice. We then shared a delicious berry muffin with ice cream, this must be Rose’s trade secret how she gets the muffins so light and not at all like most gluten free cakes. Find out more about how to cook gluten free by visiting the Balingup Bronze Gallery website here as Rose is running gluten free workshops and cooking classes.

Gluten Free Ice Cream & Brownie

April9

Checked out the new Ice Creamery in Bunbury today. Most of the ice creams and sorbets made in the store are gluten free and they have an allergen list. I had the gluten free chocolate pecan brownie with vanilla ice cream.
